It is better to remain silent and thought a fool…
…than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Maybe Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss should take this to heart. In efforts to show the importance of intelligence-gathering, Chambliss inferred that, with better intelligence, the South would have won the Civil War.
Umm…why is that not a very compelling argument to me?
To be precise, a Chambliss staffer is quoted as saying, Chambliss stated: “If (Confederate) Gen. JEB Stuart had had better intelligence, we’d all be meeting in Richmond right now.”
Oh, okay, that sounds better *insert sarcasm here*.
When will some people learn? Referring to slaveholding states with a sense of nostalgia tells me, even if unintended, where you mind is. So, Senator, if that’s your rationale for needed better intelligence gathering, you might want to go back to a well that doesn’t remind my of my people’s forced servitude and mistreatment.
