Crack Tax?

Some things make no sense to me. Why would anyone selling dope pay taxes on it?
Despite the inanity of the notion, it’s real.
For roughly 3 years now, Tennessee has had a tax on illegal drugs. This tax does not offer immunity from prosecution for drug dealers but, it does keep one from getting hit with fines associated with not paying taxes on the drugs at the time they are busted.
Believe it or not, the state has collected $3.5 million in revenue from issuing these drug tax stamps but, none of these stamps have turned up in any drug seizures.
So, a warning to all Tennessee dope dealers — pay your taxes!
