Vote-Rigging Duo Convicted in Ohio

Posted on January 25, 2007 by JP Smith

Vote RiggingIn a follow up to a previous post, two elections workers in Cleveland, Ohio were convicted yesterday for vote-rigging in regards to the 2004 presidential election there. Jacqueline Maiden, the elections coordinator for Cuyahoga County, and Kathy Dreamer, the ballot manager, were each convicted on one count of negligent misconduct of an elections employee, a felony. Both were also convicted of the misdemeanor offense of failing to perform their duties as elections employees. Each faces a possible prison sentence of 6 to 18 months.

Maiden and Dreamer conspired to rig the recount by selecting ballots that would not cause a challenge. The prosecutor did not allege they were seeking to sway they vote to Bush’s favor. Instead, the prosecutor said their motive was to avoid potential weeks or months of counting ballots. In other words, they were lazy.

So, now that we know about this part of the puzzle, how about investigating our former Secretary of State and failed gubernatorial candidate J. Kenneth Blackwell? I sure would like to know why did his worst to make it hard as hell for the black and the poor to get the same access to voting as their more well-off counterparts.

    OHIO 2004: 6.15% Kerry-Bush vote-switch found in
    probability study

How Kerry Votes Were Switched to Bush Votes
    http://jqjacobs.net/politics/ohio.html

“In a sample of 166,953 votes (1/34th of the Ohio vote),
the Kerry-Bush margin changes 6.15% when the population
is sorted by outcomes of wrong-precinct voting.

“The 6.15% vote-switch differential is seen when the large
sample is sorted by probability a Kerry wrong-precinct
vote counts for Bush. When the same large voter sample is
sorted by the probability Kerry cross-votes count for
third-party candidates, Kerry votes are instead equal in
    both subsets.”
