FEMA trying to finish the job Katrina started
It’s been over 18 months since Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast and the levees broke in New Orleans, which flooded people from their homes and, ultimately, scattered people to the four winds and left many homeless, without prospects for getting back on their feet.
Many of these folks ended up in FEMA trailer parks, trying to hold their families together and eke out some sort of existence.
Now, many of these families, lied to by a government that promised to make them whole, are now being kicked out of the trailers that they had been forced to call home and forced into new parks, forcing them to start all over, yet again.
In one trailer park, the Yorkshire Mobile Home Park, families were kicked out of their trailers with only 48 hours’ notice.
So, now, families are being moved around like chess pieces or, better yet, herded like cattle from location to location.
Perhaps, if we really gave a d*mn in this country, we would hold our government officials accountable. But, in a country where it’s preferable to beat people over the head with Christian notions than it is to actually practice the Christian principles being espoused, it should come as no surprise that “What would Jesus Do?” is the stuff only good for bumper stickers and cheap bracelets.
