When it comes to how Fox News covers anything not pro-Republican Party, you can expect it to be disrespected and marginalized. So, why would the Congressional Black Caucus even consider this “news” organization to partner with on its presidential debates?
This is the question that is going through the minds of many, the most vocal of which is ColorOfChange.org. Color Of Change is an activist organization, non unlike MoveOn.org but, focused on dealing with the political issues that affect black people.
Color Of Change is, right now, organizing a campaign that calls on the CBC Institute to not partner with Fox News on these debates because of Fox’s treatment (or, should I say, “mistreatment”) of black issues.
According to the group’s Executive Director, James Rucker:
“No network that calls Black churches a cult, implies that Senator Barack Obama is a terrorist, and uses the solemn occasion of Coretta Scott King’s funeral to call Black leaders ‘racist’ should be given a stamp of approval by the CBC Institute…Validating Fox as a legitimate source of news hurts Black America.”
To get a feel for what they are talking about, ColorOfChange.org asked Outfoxed director Robert Greenwald to compile some of the most egregious examples of the disrespect Fox News has for black America. The video is below.
So, given this, why would the CBC partner with an organization that would only further disrespect them?
