You know, if you let people talk long enough, their true natures will come out. With very few exceptions, I have found this to be true.
If you have not read the The Isis Papers: The Keys to the Colors by Dr. Frances Cress Welsing, I would urge you to do so. One passage in the afterword (2005 edition) lays out clearly one of her theories on racism:
“Racism (white supremacy) is the local and global power system and dynamic, structured and maintained by persons who classify themselves as white, whether consciously or subconsciously determined; which consists of patterns of perception, logic, symbol formation, thought, speech, action and emotional response, as conducted simultaneously in all areas of people activity (economics, education, entertainment, labor, law, politics, religion, sex and war); for the ultimate purpose of white genetic survival and to prevent white genetic annihilation on planet Earth - a planet upon which the vast and overwhelming majority of people are classified as nonwhite (black, brown, red and yellow) by white skinned people, and all of the nonwhite people are genetically dominant (in terms of skin coloration) compared to the genetic recessive white skin people.”
Enter Bill O’Reilly and John McCain. In a recent interview with McCain on the O’Reilly Factor, old Bill echoed the essence of the above passage when he weighed in on the immigration debate:
Bill O’Reilly: But do you understand what the New York Times wants, and the far-left want? They want to break down the white, Christian, male power structure, which you’re a part, and so am I, and they want to bring in millions of foreign nationals to basically break down the structure that we have. In that regard, Pat Buchanan is right. So I say you’ve got to cap with a number.
So, O’Reilly is not concerned about jobs for Americans or companies illegally exploiting cheap labor. O’Reilly is, instead, worried about what a shift in power means to white males. We need to be real and take note of the not-so-subtle messages being put out in the media in regards to race and how this is just smoothing the way for more overt racism to become more socially acceptable.

It’s interesting that your attention is still focused on the white male power monopoly. Has it occurred to you that you face a much more difficult struggle to assert your culture’s unique contributions in light of the economic emergence of countries such as China and India. It may be wise on your part to start paying more attention to counties such as these since it is there that racial and cultural cohesion preclude their citizenry from the need to accept modern Western notions such as that of multiculturalism.
Kevin, I find it interesting that you act as if:
1) I have not discussed concerns about countries like China and India (you might want to actually read more than one post on this site) and
2) Like we still don’t live in America where, at least today, the majority of the people are white and the majority of those in power are white male.
I am seeking to raise awareness because this “rallying cry”, so to speak, is not unlike that heard from Klansmen or Neo-Nazis who talk about the threat to the status-quo. When white males begin to feel their power slipping, black people need to be aware of what can/will happen when a tipping point is reached and be prepared to react to it.
Finally, you talk about multiculturalism as if it’s a requirement in this country. It should be but, it’s not. Multiculturalism, to me, is more than just having people of different stripes in the country. It is about embracing and including those differences from the top and down throughout a society. That does not happen here.
JP,
I followed your advice and parsed your site for posts that may allude to this same racial awareness in South Asian Indians and Chinese. I’ve found nothing on the order of what this post claims. Perhaps you could point to some of your examples.
Today, the majority of Americans are ostensibly white. Do you feel that African-Americans would gain from a shift in that demographic? Do you assume that the next burgeoning demographic is that of the African-American? Do you also feel as though a change in the gender of those who hold power would somehow diminish institutionalized racism to the point where African-Americans could ascend to power positions? If so, would both genders equally gain from the shift?
Reacting to Bill O’Reilly’s latent racism is one way to elicit support from the African-American community. Another may be to accept, wholesale, the idea that ostensibly white Americans who adhere to the precepts commonly proffered by the ideological framework of multiculturalism, do so only because they have, in a way, purchased their own apartheid.
With that said, it may simply be class struggle that will continue to define race relations in the 21st century as it had in the 19th and 20th centuries. The difference is that now, instead of having a one race with which to petition for equal treatment, Africa-Americans will have to address a nation such as China whose Asian population outnumber whites worldwide by a factor of two.
Kevin,
Here’s a search you can follow:

Now, in regards to your question, I don’t believe that such a shift would bring about a shift in power. What I have stated is that we should be concerned about O’Reilly and his ilk stirring up the whole “fear of a black planet” concept that so many white males seem to have. So, honestly, I am not sure where you are going with your question but you seem needy to go another direction than what I brought up here.
JP,
I’m not sure that white males necessarily fear a black planet as much as they may fear the socio-economic ballast of a black underclass that can’t be jettisoned when faced with stiff competition from a racially and culturally cohesive nation like that of China or India.
In the United States, nationalism is limited to the ambiguous exercise of general patriotism. In China, race as well as economic ideology inform their nationalistic world view. Simply put, they are racially and culturally Chinese and everyone else is not. In India the same holds true but in an even more racially sensitive form due the long standing acceptance of the caste system which ultimately determines participation in power sharing.
In my opinion, neither China nor India will embrace multiculturalism as we know it in the West. Instead they will continue to harness their racially homogeneous economic underclass to bolster their sense of nationalism.
My question, in light of your post, is whether or not you feel Bill O’Reilly should abandon any sense of racial cohesion. If so, would he have to hope that nations such as China or India would follow suit in order to level the economic playing field.
Professor Stephen Mintz of the University of Houston, in a televised lecture some years ago, argued that like India, the US has a caste system in regards to blacks. He defined the caste system by inherited stigma, and by extremely low rates of intermarriage that guarantee that the stigma will be inherited without much complication. Note that in India, untouchables can be successful as businessmen, but the odds are stacked against them.
So it is absurd to say that India is culturally cohesive. Each of India’s successful invaders (before the Moslems) imposed their gods and themselves on top of the area’s pantheistic religion in turn, creating the caste system. That’s not cohesion, that’s a military occupation prolonged by continuing inequality of power. The Indian underclass is fed up, screwed by globalization, converting to other religions or even voting Communist. There is no Indian nation, only a bureaucratic morass that holds the country together with red tape. The fatcats propose to replace that with sheer polarization of wealth. Which is why worshippers of inequality keep touting the Indian economic miracle whose net result is maybe half the growth rate of per capita income (India has higher population growth) than China.
And if the whites want to jettison the ballast, they shouldn’t have built it into the boat. The real story of racism, as recounted by Prof. Mintz, is Bacon’s Rebellion in 1676. The Scottish and Irish indentured servants (temp slaves) were recruited by a Virginia nobleman who wanted to set up his own kingdom. They were defeated, but the Virginia elite (The Founding Great-Grandfathers) knew they were stuck. The poor whites had to be gotten to support a basically unjust system of corporate plantations.
Solution: import slaves from the West Indies for the first time, then free the indentureds and give them land.
Implication: we poor whites only have jobs & status because the slaves are below us, so we will support slavery even though we own none.
Result: for 300 years the rednecks, my ancestors, have bred and spread their bigotry and hatred across the continent, always willing to tolerate the growing economic gap between themselves and the plantation class (and its modern successors) in exchange for getting to share the sainted identity of “white” with those bloodsuckers. In other words, they exchanged real power for fake power, the power to persecute anyone who was different.
Prognosis: Bush has taken America to the verge of dictatorship with the redneck vote, GOP candidates now compete on who can promise the most torture and war to get that vote, redneck beliefs in Creationism, American exceptionalism, and NASCAR rot our civilization, and the rednecks have become a class of brutal cops, prison guards, Blackwater mercenaries (North Carolina) and imperial centurions. Lyndie England is practically our Virgin Mary.
The white male power structure is the succession of child molesters who socially engineered this atrocity and keep it hungry. Because if poor whites and poor blacks ever worked together as they did in the FDR coalition, corporate profits would fall to the awful misery and depredation of… 1965. This is not racial cohesion, Mr. Fitzroy. This is a caste system, one that uses overseas war to keep its enforcer class exercised, and is thus responsible for millions of dead. The elite has no loyalty to poor whites, and has long been betraying them in order to get their hands on that cheap Chinese labor.
