Do we, a black people, really get to exercise our constitutional rights? Well, over the last several years, it seems that Americans, in general, are seeing their rights chipped away but, is it even more so for black folks?
What is our relationship to the Constitution and what does it really mean to us and for us? A few days back, columnist Alton Maddox pondered this question and came up with a profound response.
I won’t spoil it but, I will share a little of it with you
Blacks are allowed to enjoy legal and political presence but are punished for exercising rights under or similar to the Speech and Debate Clause. Only white people are allowed to engage in free speech and free debate. This is why Sen. Hillary Clinton recently trumped Sen. Barack Obama at Howard University.

this is complet horse shit
if you have a problem with the way or goverment is being ran insted of wrighting a lil colom on the web why not take it up with the people who can do something
or do you already know you just trying to get attention
Casey,
How about, instead, I begin by simply helping you with your abundance of misspellings?
Here’s a few:
It’s “complete”, not “complet”; “government”, not “goverment”; “instead”, not “insted”; “column”, not “colom”. Now, you might benefit from some help with the grammer, as well, but I really don’t have time now.
However, to the substance of what you’re saying, you’re right, sort of. You see, I do write and call Congress about those issues that I care about. For example, I emailed my support to Senator Chris Dodd for opposing telecom immunity, to Rep. John Conyers to push for investigations into the Bush White House and Robert Wexler to further investigate the politicization of government agencies whose missions are to be apolitical.
So, I am taking to the people who can do something but, I am also calling attention to it here. Criticisms like yours are often based on a laziness or fear to speak out so, you criticize those of us who do to mask your own sense of failure.
You can miss me with that. Unlike you, I do speak up.
