If you are wondering who came across as more presidential in tonight’s debate, the current polling shows a decisive victory for Barack Obama.

Given what I had seen over the past week, I fully expected some Bill Ayers or Rev. Wright references to be flying.  But, with the Dow losing another 500 points today, I think Americans are rightfully focused on the economy.

Tonight, Obama appeared to have the better answers to those concerns and, I suspect, the polling over the next few days will reflect a much higher confidence in Obama’s grasp of the economy over McCain and a greater trust in Obama’s ability to tackle this issue.

I never underestimate America’s trepidation in regards to race but, this time, concerns about the green just might trump concerns about the black.
